Stress and Feeling Anxious

Hey everyone! So with school coming to a close and exams coming up, all I have been obsessing over is tests and papers. The stress has really been affecting me a lot lately and I’m sure that many of you who read my blog have been going through the same feelings. So today I first of all want to encourage you and give you some tips on surviving the rest of this semester without going insane.

Summer is almost here!! This is the first thing that helps me get through a paper or homework assignment I really don’t want to do. Remember that soon instead of drowning in assignments you will be laying in the sun by the pool getting super tan. Just keep the end goal in mind and you will be able to have some hope that all the stress would end soon!

All your hard work will be worth it! All of the endless hours you spend studying will for sure pay off I promise! When you see all of the A’s you receive on your tests, you will finally be able to just breathe. So keep working, it’ll be worth it.

Remember to take some time to relax. Make some time in your schedule to be able to relax. Read a book, grab some coffee with friends, or take a nap. It’ll help you sooo much and maybe even give you some motivation to keep working on your assignments.

And most importantly… turn to Christ! There are so many verses that talk about stress and anxiety. Pray that God will remind you that He is in control during the busy times of lives. Down below, I am going to list some verses that have helped me during the past few weeks and I hope they will help you too!

John 14:27- Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Psalm 55:22- Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.

Psalm 23:4- Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Philippians 4:6-7- Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Proverbs 3:5-6- Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;  in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Those are just a few verses that are so comforting, and I encourage you to get into your Bibles and find more that help you out! Comment your favorite verses and your insights about stress down below, I’m sure they will be helpful to me and everyone who reads your comments! Have a great and relaxing weekend, I’ll be posting a blog everyday this weekend so stay tuned! – Cami

Hey everyone! So I am obsessed with making lists. I make lists for pretty much everything, and I love the feeling of checking something new off my lists. It makes me feel like I actually got something done for the day, and lists also help me be more productive throughout the day. Since I am a super goal-oriented person, I love the feeling of achieving all my small goals as time goes on.

Usually I make lists about things that involve homework assignments or cleaning my room, but something that has been popping up on my list a lot lately is ” read your Bible ” or ” Do your devotions from 8:30-9″ and then when I get it done for the day I feel like my day is complete. However, I am starting to realize that spending time with Jesus shouldn’t be something that we just check off of our lists everyday.

I realized that often times during Bible study or prayer, I am just going through the motions and not actually investing time into getting to know God and who He really is. If you figure out that you tend to do the same thing, pray about it! Pray that God will make your faith more real instead of something equivalent to a homework assignment or cleaning your room. Remember that growing in your faith is so exciting and fun! It is increasing your friendship with Christ and learning more about basically the meaning of our entire existence. Don’t just squeeze time with Jesus in, make it something that you just cannot wait to do!

I want to encourage you all to think about what devotions and reading your Bible truly means. Like our Bibles are literally God’s Word that He gave to us as a wonderful gift! The Bible give us encouragement, knowledge, and a basis on how to live our lives in a way that glorifies God. Spend time with Him always, and I pray that He will touch your lives daily. I hope that Christ will reveal His love to you today- Cami

Falling Away

Hey guys! So today I am going to be writing another post about Pilgrim’s Progress. I went through the book more today in class and the section we were discussing went over how Christian’s backslide in their faith. Though the book was written in the 1600’s, it still is so applicable to our lives as followers of Christ. So, today I will be talking to you about the nine things that this book lists for people backsliding in their faith.

  1. You stop thinking about God. When you are a Christian, God is often always somewhere in your mind. When you begin to stop thinking about God, He probably is not the center of your life.
  2. You stop praising God in private. This is the point where you stop having that personal time with Jesus. You don’t pray or read your Bible. You basically stop your spiritual growth.
  3. You stop associating yourself with Christians. You don’t hang out with your old Christian friends and you aren’t expressing your religion to others.
  4. You stop going to church. You stop going to any church, Bible study, or youth group because you don’t really feel the need to hear about Christ. You also do not want to be around Christians, especially in a public setting.
  5. You begin talking badly about other Christians. This is the point in which you begin picking out small flaws in Christians that you think prove why they shouldn’t be taken seriously. You also are just rude to other people in general.
  6. You begin associating yourself with the wrong crowd. We all know that we act like the people we are friends with. So, you know you are falling away from your faith when you want to hang around that rougher crowd at school or work, especially when you are influenced by them in a bad way.
  7. You begin to sin in secret. This is when you begin to not feel conviction about things you used to feel horrible about. You begin to slowly but surely fall into sin.
  8. Sin openly. This point is self explanatory. You don’t feel bad about sinning and don’t care if other see you sin or making poor life decisions.
  9. Lose your faith. You aren’t a Christian anymore and you do not trust in Christ.

These points don’t necessarily follow a specific order or system. Sometimes we notice that we struggle with some of these points and not some of the others. I know that I have struggled with many of these points, and now that I have them written down I can use them to make sure I am not doing the things that will cause me to fall away from my faith. I want to encourage you to not give up on your faith. Keep living for Christ!- Cami

Colossians 2:6-7

6So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as LORD, continue to live your lives in him, 7rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

Being Distracted

Hey guys! Something I have been soaking on today is the fact that there are so many little distractions that keep us from really getting into God’s Word. Whether it is being too tired, not having enough time, or needing to study for that Chemistry test tomorrow; our brains can always think of literally hundreds of things that we “need” to be doing during the times we are intending to do something else. I totally have been falling into this trap countless times…. so I have put together a few tips y’all can use and think about so you won’t fall into distraction and laziness like I tend to do sometimes haha!

My first tip is to pray that you’ll be on fire for Jesus. I do this when I am not as motivated about God or when I am just having a rough day. It truly helps so much. PRAYER WORKS GUYS AND GALS. Don’t be afraid to ask God for something because He will give us what we ask for ESPECIALLY if we have pure intentions about it and want to use it for God’s glory!

My second tip is to make a routine. I once saw a quote that said, ” Don’t squeeze God into your life; plan your life around God.” This goes so well with what I am talking about today and it has really stuck with me. I even wrote it down on an index card and stuck it in my room! Plan a certain time when you will dedicate all your time to getting into The Word. Some people do this super early in the morning, during their lunch break, or right before bed. Whatever works for you is great! Prioritize your time with Him just like how you prioritize a time for homework, naps, or working out. Once you have a routine set in stone you will find that it is a lot easier to follow God.

The final tip I’m going to leave with you is to have a friend help you out. Accountability is sometimes something you need to give you that extra push to get things done. Have a friend text you to remind you to do your Bible study or have them ask how your relationship with Christ is going.

To end this blog I am going to leave you with a metaphor. When you get fast food it usually is because you don’t wanna cook dinner or are having a quick craving. After you eat fast food, you typically feel gross and guilty because who knows what you even just digested? Anyways, you usually don’t feel satisfied or content in the end. Going through a drive thru is like a lot of Christian’s devotions. They leave you feeling like you just wasted your time and just went through the motions. Something quick and easy with no spiritual fulfillment.

Our devotions and time with Christ should be like a homemade meal. One that has some love and meaning put into it. It takes a bit more time, but it has so much more value. I encourage you to crave something more. Push for something spiritually nutritious that will change your life.

Y’all, if you devote a time for God everyday, your life will be so much better. Even within a couple weeks time, you will notice some big changes. You will see life in a new light! Just try it out! Trust me, you won’t want to put your Bibles down! – Cami

Faith is a Journey

Hey everyone! So lately in English class we have been reading this book called Pilgrim’s Progress. To summarize, it’s a book about a guy named Christian who realizes he needs God and chases after Him until he enters the Gates of Heaven. Christian faces many different obstacles, challenges, and temptations throughout his walk towards Christ. So today I want to talk about the journey we face as we walk on God’s path.

So often, we all hear pastors and speakers preach only about the good things faith has to offer. They focus on blessings, Jesus’s love for us, and that life is good because God is good. However, sometimes when people become saved they often turn away from their faith because of messages like these. Being a Christian is a lot harder than many people make it seem.

I’m not undermining the fact that we serve an AMAZING God who loves us more deeply than we can even comprehend. He loves everyone and encourages us to do the same. He blesses us in every area of life until all of our needs are met. And these are all amazing things and reasons to glorify God soooo much.

HOWEVER…. we also need to talk about the other side of faith. Faith isn’t easy at all. I mean when you think about it it’s crazy to think that we serve a God that we can’t even see with our own eyes. Serving God is a very hard thing to do. It’s not the easy path by any means. It is long and has so many temptations and challenges. BUT the reward is our approval into Heaven, which is one of the greatest gifts God gives us.

So today I want to encourage you all to keep walking on the path Christ wants you to be on. Even if it’s a little bit uncomfortable, makes you afraid, and seems hopeless. There’s not an easy way to get into Heaven. The only way there is through Christ alone. We will make mistakes and sometimes we will mess up so badly that we feel like we will never get back on track again.

BUT… God has so much grace. He knows that we will stumble but He will never let us fall into sin. He will forgive us time and time again and nudge us back on track. We simply must trust and submit to the Will of God.

Proverbs 4:18

But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.

Life is a journey, but faith is the biggest journey of all. Whatever you’re chasing in life, think about if it glorifies God. Pray about the goals you have for yourself. Pray that God will help you on the right track, because we can’t do it on our own! I hope you all had a great Monday and have a great rest of your week! – Cami 🌞😊

Personal Growth

Hey y’all! So something I’ve been soaking on today is how blogging has helped me grow in my own personal faith. It’s funny because I started this blog to reach and encourage others. Over time, this blog has instead been such an encouragement and comfort to me. I hope it can comfort you as well. 💕

Running a faith-based blog is a lot different than writing a blog about cooking, parenting, or beauty tips. Though those blogs are great and entertaining, running a faith-based blog has helped me in many unexpected ways. It helps me keep a standard and have a purpose.

When I started this blog, I didn’t really have big plans for it or goals. I simply did it for fun when there was a moment to document in my life! I started blogging a lot more this previous winter, and it made me realize that even the small things can be documented and used to glorify God. I began to realize that God has a purpose for everything. Every trial, every laugh, and every struggle. He leaves His mark on everything good in this world.

Blogging has also helped me learn to really focus on living out my faith. It helps me set a standard for myself and try to reflect Christ at all times. I 100% have not mastered this at all, but it has helped me grow a lot nevertheless. No one will take you seriously if you’re preaching about God’s goodness but aren’t living it out at all times. Blogging has helped me mature in this aspect and care a lot more about my actions and how I portray myself to everyone else. Like I said, I’m not perfect at all and I still have a ton of slip ups but a little growth is worth celebration in my eyes.

Thank you to all who read my blogs or have even looked at it once or twice. Your support and interest has really been a motivation to me to keep going. Almost 6,000 views and 31 countries later, this blog is already reached many more and encouraged many more than I expected. I hope this blog has been an encouragement to you and has helped you grow in some way!

Remember that life is good, and God is great 💓 – Cami

Thoughts From Me

Lots of thinking has been going on in my head lately y’all. The past few weeks I have been super afraid of so many things… mainly the future. These worries burden me so  much that I have been very emotional like basically all of the time… I know I’m a teenage girl but STILL. Haha anyways back to what I wanna talk about!

I have no clue what I am supposed to do with my future. Zero. My parents don’t know, my teachers don’t, not even my friends! Society tells us that we go to college, get decent grades, and then have a substantial job that can support your spouse, children, and maybe ( if you’re lucky ) the occasional trip to Disney World. Society says we need to have a big house, buy nice things, and have the right friends or job.

Most Christians in some way or another base all of their values off of society and raise their kids in a way which ensures this idea of ” success ” However, this is what SOCIETY says. Society is the World. So as followers of Christ, why are we following an idea that the world places before us?

I’m not saying that those things are bad or that the lifestyle American culture places fouth is sinful. I’m just saying that it doesn’t have to be for everyone. You don’t have to go to college or have the nicest car in the neighborhood. God gives us what we need, and He is our provider.

If God is calling you somewhere that seems out of your comfort zone, you need to follow it. He will call some of us to be missionaries, accountants, or teachers. Sometimes where he calls you is not where you think you want to be. Sometimes it forces you to give up things or people that you want to hold onto so tightly. BUT you have to trust in His plan, a plan that is so big we can’t even comprehend it.

His plan is elaborate, and it isn’t always easy. It might break you in half. It might leave you questioning God and what in the world He is doing, but someday we will know. He knows where you are meant to be. Follow Him wholeheartedly and He will reveal this wonderful path to you.

Being a Christian is for sure one of the hardest things to do. Believing in a being that you can’t even see is tough, especially when it tells you to do something you don’t want to do. I get it. I’ve been there. I’m there now. But God has a way of revealing Himself to us.
Last night I was really discouraged, and I got a message on Twitter from a random account that I’ve never heard of. The message said this:

” As I was going through my account the Lord directed me to speak to you to have faith in anything you are doing because he is about to do greater things in your life. Beloved, are you ready to step into the greatness that the Lord has set aside for you?”

This message had me SHOOK y’all. What a coincidence. What a thought to soak on. The very thing I have been fearing and the very thing I can’t stop thinking about has been brought to me by God. God is here, God is alive. What a wonderful message and question for me to pray about. Are YOU ready for the big plans God has set aside for you? I hope and pray that God will reveal himself in your lives in a BIG way this week! – Cami
