5 Daily Habits

Hey guys! So sometimes we get so lost in life and whatever is going on, and we easily forget to take care of ourselves. Today, I’m writing a post to remind you of some good lil habits that will brighten your day or make you a better person over time!

1• Complimenting others is something we often brush aside because we are too caught up in our own little world and what’s going on in it. I feel like if you make others feel good about themselves, it will make you feel happier on the inside as well. Something I personally try to do is compliment or encourage someone else everyday. You can do this by sending a meaningful text, complimenting an outfit, or commenting something nice on a insta post!

2• Choose good friends! Your friends are a huge part of who you are. When you’re around other people a lot, you begin to act like them over time usually. If you hang around friends that don’t motivate or encourage you, you won’t be a motivated or encouraged person. Hang out with friends that love Jesus, are happy, and full of love! Hang out with people that support and truly care about you and invest in your life. Be friends with people you want to be more like.

3• Have some quiet time everyday! I personally need some time alone everyday to refuel for the rest of my day! Take some time to journal, read a book, get into your Bible, or pray. You can pretty much do whatever you want. Quiet time can help you refocus and get your soul and heart in the right place so you can have a good mindset for the rest of your day.

4• Treat yourself! Get a face mask, take a bubble bath, buy a pint of Ben & Jerry’s. Buy the cute purse you’ve been wanting for months. Go get some Mexican food if you’ve been craving it. Whatever makes you happy, indulge in it every once in a while!

5• Read some positive quotes! Everyday, I scroll through Pinterest and read some super good quotes. Quotes get stuck in your head and change the way you think. They are great reminders in life and should be appreciated! So if you haven’t read any good quotes in a while go read some right now! Words have power!!

Even In The Stillness

For such a long time I would feel so discouraged because I would look and search for the presence of God and so desperately long for the chills and that warm fuzzy feeling that you get when you’re worshipping or reading your Bible. BUT one day I figured out that the true glory and the wonder of God can also be felt in the stillness of life. It can be felt by the stillness of who He is at heart.

Sometimes, when we aren’t feeling The Holy Spirit tugging on our hearts and souls as much, we think that maybe we are falling away from our faith. This can certainly be the case at times. However, the presence of God is there. God doesn’t always speak loudly to us. He is always capable of being close to us, so close that He can show you the goodness in His heart from just a simple whisper.

For a period of time in my life about nine months ago, I desperately wanted to feel God’s presence in a heavy way. I always wanted to be wrecked by God. I wanted Him to pick apart my soul and turn it into a masterpiece made to serve Him. I wanted Him to show me who He was in a BIG way.

But over those past nine months, I’ve realized something. Who God is, doesn’t have to be shouted from the mountaintops every single time. Don’t get me wrong; I for sure believe that God does some crazy, extravagant, and amazing things. But what I realized is that God can also be very peaceful. He can be calm. He can be quiet.

God isn’t just with you when you are on that Holy Spirit high. He isn’t just with you when you’re worshiping or when you’re on a mission trip. His spirit is ALWAYS with us. He’s with us in our moments of sin. He’s with us when we are eating our breakfast. He’s with us when we are in our most broken moments of life.

This summer, a thought that I’ve been deeply contemplating is that God is not only our creator, He is also our Father. On one hand, He literally spoke the universe into existence and created everything we’ve ever known. On the other hand, He is a peaceful, loving Father that wants nothing more than a relationship with us. With YOU!

God doesn’t only exist in the moments He is most apparent. He can be found in the peace and quiet. As His followers, we must stop limiting God to moving us and speaking by hearing the mountains tremble and begin to understand that He is truly capable of so much more. God is a God who can make peace out of any storm you may face.

We work so hard to feel God and feel His presence, which is an honorable thing. But we forget He’s already there. He’s already working. He’s already moving. Sometimes I feel like we live Sunday to Sunday, or conference to conference, just waiting for God to do something and waiting for God to speak.

But, He’s already there! You don’t have to wait! The presence of God is already with you and is ALWAYS with you, and I think that’s a beautiful and wonderful thing to soak on. His presence lives inside of us. Remember that.

Weekend Reflections

Hey guys! It has been a great but super busy and tiring weekend filled with many emotions. On Saturday, I had my friends sisters wedding to attend. Even though I don’t know the sister very well, it meant so much to my friend to come to the wedding. Remember to be there for your friends always. Even if you feel like you are a terrible friend sometimes, the least you can do is be there for someone and invest in them when it really counts.

The next morning, my amazing boyfriend Bryce woke up super early to drive me to Ohio for my great grandma’s funeral. The whole situation with that has been very hard on me, but he has been so supportive and caring the entire time! My friends have also been so supportive as well, and I’m so thankful God gives me reminders that others care about the hardships in my life.

So anyways, back to the sad part with the funeral. I’ve never really experienced death in my family before. Honestly, it still doesn’t feel real. Death is so hard. I think the hardest part for me is seeing everyone else cry and be so sad, because then I feel so bad and start crying as well. But death, though it’s sad, can teach us so many things.

Death reminds us to be thankful for what we have now, because it isn’t promised tomorrow. It reminds us that God is so good, and He will bring us to an amazing place someday soon where we can be so happy and glorify Him for ETERNITY.

Something that everyone recalled about my great grandma was the fact that she was so hospitable. She was the type of person who loved unconditionally. She loved her family, and she spent her entire life investing in others.

What do you want people to remember you for? I know that the question seems daunting, but it really can give us something to think about. For me personally, I want to be remembered for loving Jesus wholeheartedly and accepting every single adventure he sets in front of me as I go through life.

We can die at any moment, so whatever your answer was to my question- start living it out NOW! And remember that we aren’t promised tomorrow, so chose Jesus today. Chose Jesus everyday. Accept Him into your heart, and you can be with him forever. Heaven is gonna be a great place guys, and I don’t want any of you to miss out on it!

Dealing with death is hard. But God is our greatest comfort always. He has a plan, and He is always good! Remember that it’s okay to be sad, you don’t always have to keep it together. I know this is kind of a random post that’s sort of sad and gloomy, but this is life guys. Life isn’t always happy and perfect. It has ups and downs, and I’m here to share both. – Cami

The Person Behind The Screen

Hello friends! Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve blogged, but I’ve been a little busy lately. My great-grandma passed away. She was saved, so though it’s sad, it is also a happy thing because she is where she’s meant to be, alongside the Lord! I also have been working on my Pinterest and NEW Instagram for my blog! My Pinterest is just Cami Dahms and my new Instagram is @thoughtsfromcami ! I hope you will check them out and give them a follow!

So a topic requested to me was talking about who I am as a person and just talking about me! I’ve never really thought about doing this topic before because when I started my blog, the only people who read it were people that I know! But now, more people read this blog that I don’t know, so I think it’s suitable to do an “ about me “ blog post!

So if you don’t know me already, the first thing you should know about me is that I’m obsessed with the internet! I love to blog, watch YouTube videos, and meet new awesome blogger friends! I also love taking pictures and just learning things from the internet!

The next thing you should know about me is that even though I’m going to be sixteen, I’m starting college this fall! I am so excited to start college because high school isn’t my most favorite thing in the world. I’ll be at college classes in the morning and high school classes in the afternoon. I’m so excited for the new opportunities this will bring and I’m also excited to maybe make some new friends!

Another thing you should know about me is that I want to major in either international business or nutrition. Both of these things interest me very much! I want to be able to travel, and I think international business would be a great route for me. But I’m still not sure what I’ll do quite yet!

In my free time you’ll usually catch me either with my friends, or in my room with a good book and a cup of coffee! I’m not super exciting, sorry to disappoint haha! I also love being at the beach or by the pool just relaxing! Most of the time, I’m going on adventures with my boyfriend, which is super fun!! 😊

I also am a Christian! This is the most important thing you should know about me. Though I am far from perfect, I am always trying to become a better person and follower of Christ. To serve God, I go on mission trips and I have this blog! I use this blog to talk about Jesus and share my personal spiritual findings that I think could help other girls my age.

I’m just a normal sixteen year old who lives in the middle of Indiana pretty much! Soon, hopefully I’ll get out of here and move somewhere more exciting lol! Anyways, that’s all I can think of to describe me right now haha! I hope you all have a great day and if you have any more questions about me comment down below:)

Praying For The Ones You Love

Hey everyone! So Bryce ( my AMAZING boyfriend ) wanted to share some thoughts with you guys today! Keep on reading for a great reminder 😊 – Cami

I don’t know if there are any country music fans out there but I’m a die hard! Today I was listening to one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite country artists. This song is called Woman, Amen by Dierks Bentley. The song talks about the writer needs to be thanking God for his spouse or significant other because without her he would be lost. This song made me really think about how often we take people for granted in our lives.

Think of someone really special to you and how different and hard your life would be without them it could be your girlfriend, boyfriend, mom, dad, or just a really close friend or relative. Now think of the last time you really sat down and thanked God for this person and all the joy, happiness and love they bring into your life.

For me, this special person is Cami and I’ve realized that I’ve taken her for granted, because honestly without her I wouldn’t be the same person I am today! She is always there for me and helps me through tough times and reminds me that God has a plan for my life that is bigger than I could ever imagine!

Now praying for people in your life is such an amazing thing but I would also encourage you to pray for people that aren’t in your life yet! This may sound confusing but it’s actually quite lucid; pray for your future spouse and for your future friends before you know who they are! In Matthew 7:7, we see that Jesus wants to give us what is good for us. This includes a spouse and good Christian friends! All we have to do is ask him and be praying for them ahead of time! ~ Bryce

Deep Waters

Isaiah 43:2

When you go through deep waters, I will be with you.

This verse is so beautiful and simple at the same time. There is nothing on this earth that is too hard or complicated for God to face right next to us. He will be with us in our ugliest moments, our deepest sins, and depressing nights when we are crying in bed.

He will always be right there. Nothing is too big for God. He will always be reaching out to us, picking us up, and helping us over the waves.

You know that feeling you get after a mission trip? Or church Sunday morning? Or even after hearing a super moving worship song on the radio? The feeling where you’re on top of the world and so in love with Christ and all that He represents.

These moments are so amazing. However, sadly, for most people they end. By the next day, or even an hour after God works in you, you catch yourself falling back into your old ways. It’s almost like all the time you devoted to Christ did nothing. But here’s what people don’t understand.

You can’t build a real relationship with someone by giving them an hour of your time once a week. Or talking to them for five minutes every night before bed. Or pleading to them right before a big test.

A relationship with Christ is REAL! And it’s important. Treat it like you would any other relationship. Think about how much time you spend with your best friend, your mom, or significant other. It’s probably a lot of time! Wellll we should be spending even more time with God because He loves us more than anyone else could.

He pulls us out of our problems. He gives us hope. He reminds us to keep on living, because each one of us has a purpose and a plan. SO, keep on living for Christ guys! Remember that He loves you no matter what. Just because you screw up sometimes doesn’t mean you aren’t good enough to follow Him. He is with us ALWAYS!! – Cami

He Takes Care Of Us

Hey everyone, today I just wanna give you some encouragement and reminders that put life into perspective!

No matter what you’re going through, no matter how many times you mess up, God is always with you. When you are crying, He is with you. When you feel like your world is caving in, He is with you. When we are eating junk food and laughing with our friends, He is with you. Even when God is the last thought on our minds, and even when we don’t do our devotions for a month, He is loving you more in that moment than anyone on this earth could ever love you.

This life isn’t meant to be faced alone. Why do we keep fighting against our problems when God has already won? This fact is applicable for every situation in life. When you fail all of your finals and feel stupid. When you’re feeling insecure. When life doesn’t go the way you planned. BUT even though these moments seem dark and awful and like a big black hole that sucks the joy out of you, we have to remember that God has a plan.

Be thankful for your struggles. Be thankful for what is going on in your life at this very moment. I know it sounds crazy, but rejoice in the craziness. God is on your side. FOREVER. The battle you are trying to fight at this very moment isn’t even in your hands. It’s in God’s hands. So just chill out and let God take care of you! We can’t get through this life on our own~ Cami 😊💓

Life Goes By FAST

Hey everyone! Today I just want to talk about something I’ve been thinking about a lot. Life goes by so crazy fast, and time is so easily taken for granted.

Remember to appreciate every laugh you have, and every good time you have with your friends and family this summer. Moments don’t last forever, but memories do. The main thing I’m gonna be focused on is not counting days until all the good times will end, but making everyday count.

In life, there is no replay, no rewind, so enjoy every single moment as it comes.

Something that has really been weighing me down is the fact that my boyfriend, Bryce, is going to boot camp in August. I’m so happy for him and I am totally supportive of his decision to serve our country! He is going to have a great time and he will do amazing in the Coast Guard!

But, as his girlfriend, I’m a little freaked out sometimes! I’m sure you understand where I’m coming from, and it’s hard to not get caught up with how much time I have left with him.

So, I need to stop counting and start LIVING! If I don’t get so obsessed over how little time I actually have left, then I can enjoy the moments I still have and make a ton of amazing memories with him. I am so excited to spend my summer with him, but to be honest I’m dreading the day he leaves.

So, I want to ask everyone who reads my blog to be praying for the situation! Pray for Bryce. Pray that he follows God’s path and is always living for him and that he will love what he is doing. Also please pray that I can stay level headed through all of this. A new chapter is coming, and honestly sometimes I don’t think I’m ready for it. But no one is ever ready for the next chapter, we just have to face it head on. These moments in life will change us, they’ll rock our worlds and bring so many new emotions. Appreciate life for the chaos it is.

Instead of being sad about closing a chapter, we must look ahead. We have to look ahead to Jesus. He is in control of all of this craziness. My life is defiantly insane, and God is doing some big things.

So make your memories this summer. Tell people that you love them. Ask friends to hang out. Make sure to laugh always, and pray even more. I know this blog is a bit different than what I usually post, but I always want to be real with you guys and update you about what’s going on! I hope you all are having a great start to your summer, I know I am!

God always has a plan, and He will walk with us always. Remember that, believe in it, and trust in it- Cami 💓
