Weekend Reflections

Hey guys! It has been a great but super busy and tiring weekend filled with many emotions. On Saturday, I had my friends sisters wedding to attend. Even though I don’t know the sister very well, it meant so much to my friend to come to the wedding. Remember to be there for your friends always. Even if you feel like you are a terrible friend sometimes, the least you can do is be there for someone and invest in them when it really counts.

The next morning, my amazing boyfriend Bryce woke up super early to drive me to Ohio for my great grandma’s funeral. The whole situation with that has been very hard on me, but he has been so supportive and caring the entire time! My friends have also been so supportive as well, and I’m so thankful God gives me reminders that others care about the hardships in my life.

So anyways, back to the sad part with the funeral. I’ve never really experienced death in my family before. Honestly, it still doesn’t feel real. Death is so hard. I think the hardest part for me is seeing everyone else cry and be so sad, because then I feel so bad and start crying as well. But death, though it’s sad, can teach us so many things.

Death reminds us to be thankful for what we have now, because it isn’t promised tomorrow. It reminds us that God is so good, and He will bring us to an amazing place someday soon where we can be so happy and glorify Him for ETERNITY.

Something that everyone recalled about my great grandma was the fact that she was so hospitable. She was the type of person who loved unconditionally. She loved her family, and she spent her entire life investing in others.

What do you want people to remember you for? I know that the question seems daunting, but it really can give us something to think about. For me personally, I want to be remembered for loving Jesus wholeheartedly and accepting every single adventure he sets in front of me as I go through life.

We can die at any moment, so whatever your answer was to my question- start living it out NOW! And remember that we aren’t promised tomorrow, so chose Jesus today. Chose Jesus everyday. Accept Him into your heart, and you can be with him forever. Heaven is gonna be a great place guys, and I don’t want any of you to miss out on it!

Dealing with death is hard. But God is our greatest comfort always. He has a plan, and He is always good! Remember that it’s okay to be sad, you don’t always have to keep it together. I know this is kind of a random post that’s sort of sad and gloomy, but this is life guys. Life isn’t always happy and perfect. It has ups and downs, and I’m here to share both. – Cami

The Person Behind The Screen

Hello friends! Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve blogged, but I’ve been a little busy lately. My great-grandma passed away. She was saved, so though it’s sad, it is also a happy thing because she is where she’s meant to be, alongside the Lord! I also have been working on my Pinterest and NEW Instagram for my blog! My Pinterest is just Cami Dahms and my new Instagram is @thoughtsfromcami ! I hope you will check them out and give them a follow!

So a topic requested to me was talking about who I am as a person and just talking about me! I’ve never really thought about doing this topic before because when I started my blog, the only people who read it were people that I know! But now, more people read this blog that I don’t know, so I think it’s suitable to do an “ about me “ blog post!

So if you don’t know me already, the first thing you should know about me is that I’m obsessed with the internet! I love to blog, watch YouTube videos, and meet new awesome blogger friends! I also love taking pictures and just learning things from the internet!

The next thing you should know about me is that even though I’m going to be sixteen, I’m starting college this fall! I am so excited to start college because high school isn’t my most favorite thing in the world. I’ll be at college classes in the morning and high school classes in the afternoon. I’m so excited for the new opportunities this will bring and I’m also excited to maybe make some new friends!

Another thing you should know about me is that I want to major in either international business or nutrition. Both of these things interest me very much! I want to be able to travel, and I think international business would be a great route for me. But I’m still not sure what I’ll do quite yet!

In my free time you’ll usually catch me either with my friends, or in my room with a good book and a cup of coffee! I’m not super exciting, sorry to disappoint haha! I also love being at the beach or by the pool just relaxing! Most of the time, I’m going on adventures with my boyfriend, which is super fun!! 😊

I also am a Christian! This is the most important thing you should know about me. Though I am far from perfect, I am always trying to become a better person and follower of Christ. To serve God, I go on mission trips and I have this blog! I use this blog to talk about Jesus and share my personal spiritual findings that I think could help other girls my age.

I’m just a normal sixteen year old who lives in the middle of Indiana pretty much! Soon, hopefully I’ll get out of here and move somewhere more exciting lol! Anyways, that’s all I can think of to describe me right now haha! I hope you all have a great day and if you have any more questions about me comment down below:)

Praying For The Ones You Love

Hey everyone! So Bryce ( my AMAZING boyfriend ) wanted to share some thoughts with you guys today! Keep on reading for a great reminder 😊 – Cami

I don’t know if there are any country music fans out there but I’m a die hard! Today I was listening to one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite country artists. This song is called Woman, Amen by Dierks Bentley. The song talks about the writer needs to be thanking God for his spouse or significant other because without her he would be lost. This song made me really think about how often we take people for granted in our lives.

Think of someone really special to you and how different and hard your life would be without them it could be your girlfriend, boyfriend, mom, dad, or just a really close friend or relative. Now think of the last time you really sat down and thanked God for this person and all the joy, happiness and love they bring into your life.

For me, this special person is Cami and I’ve realized that I’ve taken her for granted, because honestly without her I wouldn’t be the same person I am today! She is always there for me and helps me through tough times and reminds me that God has a plan for my life that is bigger than I could ever imagine!

Now praying for people in your life is such an amazing thing but I would also encourage you to pray for people that aren’t in your life yet! This may sound confusing but it’s actually quite lucid; pray for your future spouse and for your future friends before you know who they are! In Matthew 7:7, we see that Jesus wants to give us what is good for us. This includes a spouse and good Christian friends! All we have to do is ask him and be praying for them ahead of time! ~ Bryce

Deep Waters

Isaiah 43:2

When you go through deep waters, I will be with you.

This verse is so beautiful and simple at the same time. There is nothing on this earth that is too hard or complicated for God to face right next to us. He will be with us in our ugliest moments, our deepest sins, and depressing nights when we are crying in bed.

He will always be right there. Nothing is too big for God. He will always be reaching out to us, picking us up, and helping us over the waves.

You know that feeling you get after a mission trip? Or church Sunday morning? Or even after hearing a super moving worship song on the radio? The feeling where you’re on top of the world and so in love with Christ and all that He represents.

These moments are so amazing. However, sadly, for most people they end. By the next day, or even an hour after God works in you, you catch yourself falling back into your old ways. It’s almost like all the time you devoted to Christ did nothing. But here’s what people don’t understand.

You can’t build a real relationship with someone by giving them an hour of your time once a week. Or talking to them for five minutes every night before bed. Or pleading to them right before a big test.

A relationship with Christ is REAL! And it’s important. Treat it like you would any other relationship. Think about how much time you spend with your best friend, your mom, or significant other. It’s probably a lot of time! Wellll we should be spending even more time with God because He loves us more than anyone else could.

He pulls us out of our problems. He gives us hope. He reminds us to keep on living, because each one of us has a purpose and a plan. SO, keep on living for Christ guys! Remember that He loves you no matter what. Just because you screw up sometimes doesn’t mean you aren’t good enough to follow Him. He is with us ALWAYS!! – Cami

He Takes Care Of Us

Hey everyone, today I just wanna give you some encouragement and reminders that put life into perspective!

No matter what you’re going through, no matter how many times you mess up, God is always with you. When you are crying, He is with you. When you feel like your world is caving in, He is with you. When we are eating junk food and laughing with our friends, He is with you. Even when God is the last thought on our minds, and even when we don’t do our devotions for a month, He is loving you more in that moment than anyone on this earth could ever love you.

This life isn’t meant to be faced alone. Why do we keep fighting against our problems when God has already won? This fact is applicable for every situation in life. When you fail all of your finals and feel stupid. When you’re feeling insecure. When life doesn’t go the way you planned. BUT even though these moments seem dark and awful and like a big black hole that sucks the joy out of you, we have to remember that God has a plan.

Be thankful for your struggles. Be thankful for what is going on in your life at this very moment. I know it sounds crazy, but rejoice in the craziness. God is on your side. FOREVER. The battle you are trying to fight at this very moment isn’t even in your hands. It’s in God’s hands. So just chill out and let God take care of you! We can’t get through this life on our own~ Cami 😊💓

Life Goes By FAST

Hey everyone! Today I just want to talk about something I’ve been thinking about a lot. Life goes by so crazy fast, and time is so easily taken for granted.

Remember to appreciate every laugh you have, and every good time you have with your friends and family this summer. Moments don’t last forever, but memories do. The main thing I’m gonna be focused on is not counting days until all the good times will end, but making everyday count.

In life, there is no replay, no rewind, so enjoy every single moment as it comes.

Something that has really been weighing me down is the fact that my boyfriend, Bryce, is going to boot camp in August. I’m so happy for him and I am totally supportive of his decision to serve our country! He is going to have a great time and he will do amazing in the Coast Guard!

But, as his girlfriend, I’m a little freaked out sometimes! I’m sure you understand where I’m coming from, and it’s hard to not get caught up with how much time I have left with him.

So, I need to stop counting and start LIVING! If I don’t get so obsessed over how little time I actually have left, then I can enjoy the moments I still have and make a ton of amazing memories with him. I am so excited to spend my summer with him, but to be honest I’m dreading the day he leaves.

So, I want to ask everyone who reads my blog to be praying for the situation! Pray for Bryce. Pray that he follows God’s path and is always living for him and that he will love what he is doing. Also please pray that I can stay level headed through all of this. A new chapter is coming, and honestly sometimes I don’t think I’m ready for it. But no one is ever ready for the next chapter, we just have to face it head on. These moments in life will change us, they’ll rock our worlds and bring so many new emotions. Appreciate life for the chaos it is.

Instead of being sad about closing a chapter, we must look ahead. We have to look ahead to Jesus. He is in control of all of this craziness. My life is defiantly insane, and God is doing some big things.

So make your memories this summer. Tell people that you love them. Ask friends to hang out. Make sure to laugh always, and pray even more. I know this blog is a bit different than what I usually post, but I always want to be real with you guys and update you about what’s going on! I hope you all are having a great start to your summer, I know I am!

God always has a plan, and He will walk with us always. Remember that, believe in it, and trust in it- Cami 💓

My Summer Essentials

Hey guys! Soooo since school is finally coming to a close and summer is right around the corner, today I am going to be sharing with you my summer essentials! These things will help you have a BOMB summer soooo keep reading!

1.Cute Sandals- Make sure to have at least one pair of sandals that you are in love with because then you can just throw them on! It’s nice to have a pair of shoes that you can wear to a fancy restaurant, the beach, or on a quick ice cream run.

2.Sunglasses- Sunglasses are a must have because they are super cute AND they help you see lol! Even if you’re looking rough, you can just throw on some sunglasses and you’re all good haha!

3.A Good Book- Some of y’all probably don’t like reading, but I’m a huge bookworm lol! Anyways, a good book is a must have for sitting by the pool or going to the beach. Phones always get too hot or the sun makes the screen basically impossible to see. SO make sure to grab a few good books to help you keep from being bored while tanning!

4.Fun Plans- Have something to look forward to this summer! Even if you aren’t going on any trips, I recommend trying to do something new or fun everyday! This will keep you from the summertime slump- aka just laying in bed for like a month watching Netflix.

5.Summertime Playlist- This is for sure an essential y’all! You need something to plug in when someone hands you the aux! Music sets moods, so make a happy and fun one that reminds you of summertime. It’ll make summer even more enjoyable. The best part is that after summertime, you can listen back to the playlist and remember so many amazing memories.

6.Tanning Lotion- If you’re naturally super pale like me, tanning lotion is basically a lifesaver. I’m pretty much addicted to tanning, so I had to add this one on lol! You can also get some bronzer with a little bit of SPF to protect your skin!

7.Moisturizer- You need this. Skin gets soooo dry from all the exposure in the sun that your skin faces in the summer. I use coconut oil to Moisturize, but you should look for yourself and find out what works best for you! Remember that what may help one person might cause the other person to have a serious breakout.

I hope this tips were helpful! Have a great summer y’all, I can’t wait for the many summer blog posts coming! – Cami

Feeling God

Have you ever been worshipping at church or looking at how the sun hits the leaves on the trees and you just get an overwhelming feeling of how good God is? That feeling is something that lately, I have been trying to search for daily and strive for.

Some people think that Christianity is just a book of rules that you have to follow in order to be a good Christian. Or that being a Christian is something that you only identify with on Sunday mornings. These beliefs are so common, and I know that I have been trapped in both of these things in my life. But when you believe these things, you are missing out on some of the best parts of being a Christian.

The best feeling in the world is being filled by The Holy Spirit. Some people only feel God on ” special occasions ” like missions trips, Christian conferences, or at a concert. These are also the occasions when people tend to allow The Spirit to touch their soul. After these events, people always say how great they feel or that they felt so close to God. But then, a couple weeks later, they stop being as on fire for Jesus. I honestly don’t understand this. If it feels so amazing to be filled by The Holy Spirit, how can you want that to stop?

Feeling God doesn’t have to be just on special occasions. In fact, you should feel The Spirit of God with you everyday of your life. Look around, His love and goodness is everywhere. Open up those dusty Bibles or download a worship playlist on Spotify. These simple things will immediately draw you closer to God and feeling His presence. It is never the wrong time to worship God. He is with us all the time, and we are never too busy for Him. Think about it, He keeps track this entire universe and every single person on this earth, and he still has time for you. So there isn’t an excuse of being too busy for Him!

Psalm 51:11-Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me

Proverbs 8:30- Then I was constantly at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence.

I remember the first time I felt The Holy Spirit. It was such a wonderful moment that brought me to tears. Oftentimes, when I feel His Spirit with me, it makes me want to just cry with adoration of how amazing He really is. Pray that The Holy Spirit will fill you, lead you, and guide you every step you take. He is with us always and He will never forsake us! – Cami

Stress and Feeling Anxious

Hey everyone! So with school coming to a close and exams coming up, all I have been obsessing over is tests and papers. The stress has really been affecting me a lot lately and I’m sure that many of you who read my blog have been going through the same feelings. So today I first of all want to encourage you and give you some tips on surviving the rest of this semester without going insane.

Summer is almost here!! This is the first thing that helps me get through a paper or homework assignment I really don’t want to do. Remember that soon instead of drowning in assignments you will be laying in the sun by the pool getting super tan. Just keep the end goal in mind and you will be able to have some hope that all the stress would end soon!

All your hard work will be worth it! All of the endless hours you spend studying will for sure pay off I promise! When you see all of the A’s you receive on your tests, you will finally be able to just breathe. So keep working, it’ll be worth it.

Remember to take some time to relax. Make some time in your schedule to be able to relax. Read a book, grab some coffee with friends, or take a nap. It’ll help you sooo much and maybe even give you some motivation to keep working on your assignments.

And most importantly… turn to Christ! There are so many verses that talk about stress and anxiety. Pray that God will remind you that He is in control during the busy times of lives. Down below, I am going to list some verses that have helped me during the past few weeks and I hope they will help you too!

John 14:27- Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Psalm 55:22- Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.

Psalm 23:4- Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Philippians 4:6-7- Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Proverbs 3:5-6- Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;  in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Those are just a few verses that are so comforting, and I encourage you to get into your Bibles and find more that help you out! Comment your favorite verses and your insights about stress down below, I’m sure they will be helpful to me and everyone who reads your comments! Have a great and relaxing weekend, I’ll be posting a blog everyday this weekend so stay tuned! – Cami

Hey everyone! So I am obsessed with making lists. I make lists for pretty much everything, and I love the feeling of checking something new off my lists. It makes me feel like I actually got something done for the day, and lists also help me be more productive throughout the day. Since I am a super goal-oriented person, I love the feeling of achieving all my small goals as time goes on.

Usually I make lists about things that involve homework assignments or cleaning my room, but something that has been popping up on my list a lot lately is ” read your Bible ” or ” Do your devotions from 8:30-9″ and then when I get it done for the day I feel like my day is complete. However, I am starting to realize that spending time with Jesus shouldn’t be something that we just check off of our lists everyday.

I realized that often times during Bible study or prayer, I am just going through the motions and not actually investing time into getting to know God and who He really is. If you figure out that you tend to do the same thing, pray about it! Pray that God will make your faith more real instead of something equivalent to a homework assignment or cleaning your room. Remember that growing in your faith is so exciting and fun! It is increasing your friendship with Christ and learning more about basically the meaning of our entire existence. Don’t just squeeze time with Jesus in, make it something that you just cannot wait to do!

I want to encourage you all to think about what devotions and reading your Bible truly means. Like our Bibles are literally God’s Word that He gave to us as a wonderful gift! The Bible give us encouragement, knowledge, and a basis on how to live our lives in a way that glorifies God. Spend time with Him always, and I pray that He will touch your lives daily. I hope that Christ will reveal His love to you today- Cami

Falling Away

Hey guys! So today I am going to be writing another post about Pilgrim’s Progress. I went through the book more today in class and the section we were discussing went over how Christian’s backslide in their faith. Though the book was written in the 1600’s, it still is so applicable to our lives as followers of Christ. So, today I will be talking to you about the nine things that this book lists for people backsliding in their faith.

  1. You stop thinking about God. When you are a Christian, God is often always somewhere in your mind. When you begin to stop thinking about God, He probably is not the center of your life.
  2. You stop praising God in private. This is the point where you stop having that personal time with Jesus. You don’t pray or read your Bible. You basically stop your spiritual growth.
  3. You stop associating yourself with Christians. You don’t hang out with your old Christian friends and you aren’t expressing your religion to others.
  4. You stop going to church. You stop going to any church, Bible study, or youth group because you don’t really feel the need to hear about Christ. You also do not want to be around Christians, especially in a public setting.
  5. You begin talking badly about other Christians. This is the point in which you begin picking out small flaws in Christians that you think prove why they shouldn’t be taken seriously. You also are just rude to other people in general.
  6. You begin associating yourself with the wrong crowd. We all know that we act like the people we are friends with. So, you know you are falling away from your faith when you want to hang around that rougher crowd at school or work, especially when you are influenced by them in a bad way.
  7. You begin to sin in secret. This is when you begin to not feel conviction about things you used to feel horrible about. You begin to slowly but surely fall into sin.
  8. Sin openly. This point is self explanatory. You don’t feel bad about sinning and don’t care if other see you sin or making poor life decisions.
  9. Lose your faith. You aren’t a Christian anymore and you do not trust in Christ.

These points don’t necessarily follow a specific order or system. Sometimes we notice that we struggle with some of these points and not some of the others. I know that I have struggled with many of these points, and now that I have them written down I can use them to make sure I am not doing the things that will cause me to fall away from my faith. I want to encourage you to not give up on your faith. Keep living for Christ!- Cami

Colossians 2:6-7

6So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as LORD, continue to live your lives in him, 7rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

Being Distracted

Hey guys! Something I have been soaking on today is the fact that there are so many little distractions that keep us from really getting into God’s Word. Whether it is being too tired, not having enough time, or needing to study for that Chemistry test tomorrow; our brains can always think of literally hundreds of things that we “need” to be doing during the times we are intending to do something else. I totally have been falling into this trap countless times…. so I have put together a few tips y’all can use and think about so you won’t fall into distraction and laziness like I tend to do sometimes haha!

My first tip is to pray that you’ll be on fire for Jesus. I do this when I am not as motivated about God or when I am just having a rough day. It truly helps so much. PRAYER WORKS GUYS AND GALS. Don’t be afraid to ask God for something because He will give us what we ask for ESPECIALLY if we have pure intentions about it and want to use it for God’s glory!

My second tip is to make a routine. I once saw a quote that said, ” Don’t squeeze God into your life; plan your life around God.” This goes so well with what I am talking about today and it has really stuck with me. I even wrote it down on an index card and stuck it in my room! Plan a certain time when you will dedicate all your time to getting into The Word. Some people do this super early in the morning, during their lunch break, or right before bed. Whatever works for you is great! Prioritize your time with Him just like how you prioritize a time for homework, naps, or working out. Once you have a routine set in stone you will find that it is a lot easier to follow God.

The final tip I’m going to leave with you is to have a friend help you out. Accountability is sometimes something you need to give you that extra push to get things done. Have a friend text you to remind you to do your Bible study or have them ask how your relationship with Christ is going.

To end this blog I am going to leave you with a metaphor. When you get fast food it usually is because you don’t wanna cook dinner or are having a quick craving. After you eat fast food, you typically feel gross and guilty because who knows what you even just digested? Anyways, you usually don’t feel satisfied or content in the end. Going through a drive thru is like a lot of Christian’s devotions. They leave you feeling like you just wasted your time and just went through the motions. Something quick and easy with no spiritual fulfillment.

Our devotions and time with Christ should be like a homemade meal. One that has some love and meaning put into it. It takes a bit more time, but it has so much more value. I encourage you to crave something more. Push for something spiritually nutritious that will change your life.

Y’all, if you devote a time for God everyday, your life will be so much better. Even within a couple weeks time, you will notice some big changes. You will see life in a new light! Just try it out! Trust me, you won’t want to put your Bibles down! – Cami
